Priorities

We deserve joy. We deserve abundance.

I’m running to dismantle systems that exploit our communities. I want to build a government that works for you. My vision for District 43 is rooted in local control and ownership, collaboration, transparency and care — powered by the belief that when we invest in people, everyone thrives.
I will be a fearless fighter for you in Frankfort — and humbly ask for your support and your vote on May 19th.

MEDICAID & HEALTHCARE

Quality health care is a right, not a privilege.

Everyone deserves to live longer, healthier, and happier lives with care close to home and without the fear of crushing medical bills. I will fight to make healthcare accessible, affordable, and rooted in dignity.

I will fight to:

  • Protect and strengthen Medicaid so eligible Kentuckians don’t lose coverage.
  • Fix the Kynect enrollment and renewal process so people aren’t kicked off coverage because of paperwork, delays, or system failures.
  • Auto-renewal coverage for seniors and people with disabilities to protect enrollment once eligibility is confirmed.
  • Expand and protect adult dental coverage under Medicaid, and ensure Kentucky connects dual-eligible seniors to the dental services they already qualify for.
  • Defend and expand access to mental health care, maternity care, reproductive care, and gender-affirming care.
  • Expand support for seniors, veterans, people in recovery, and people with disabilities.
  • Establish a Community Health Reserve to fund home air filters, air-quality monitoring, inhalers, mobile and in-school clinics, and screenings in communities disproportionately affected by environmental contamination.

MATERNAL & FAMILY CARE

No mother should face fear where there should be joy.

As a Black mom, I understand how quickly pregnancy can turn from celebration into crisis — and how often systems fail families at their most vulnerable moments.

I will fight to:

  • Medicaid coverage for two full years postpartum, when complications and postpartum depression are most likely.
  • Doula and community birth workers as a standard Medicaid benefit.
  • Safe home-birth options and community-based birthing centers in areas with high maternal mortality.

HOUSING JUSTICE

Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home

Housing is foundational to health, safety, and wealth-building. I will take power away from speculators and absentee landlords and put it back into the hands of residents.

I will fight to:

  • Create a First-Generation Homeownership Program to help longtime residents with down payments and closing costs.
  • Establish a Home Repair & Weatherization Fund so seniors and longtime homeowners can stay safely housed.
  • Pass the Right to Home Act, strengthening tenant protections, ending voucher discrimination, curbing predatory rent hikes, and holding negligent landlords accountable.
  •

Dignity for Unhoused Neighbors

No one should be punished for surviving.

  • Support housing-first strategies with wraparound services.
  • Invest in “dignity while you wait” solutions — restrooms, showers, warming/cooling stations, charging stations, and trusted outreach.
  • Expand eviction prevention, reentry support, and mental health services to prevent homelessness before it begins.

JOBS & A LIVING WAGE

Work should lift people up — not trap them.

Low wages and limited opportunities keep families stuck. I will fight for fair pay, strong labor standards, and real pathways to economic security.

I will fight to:

  • Raise the living wage and strengthen wage standards on publicly supported projects.
  • Build a West End Union & Trades Training Hub with paid, accredited apprenticeships.
  • Create fair-chance employment pathways for people in recovery, including schedule protections during treatment and stronger second-chance hiring standards.

FULLY FUNDED PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Every child deserves a great school. Every educator deserves respect.

Strong public schools are the backbone of our democracy and economy.

I will fight to:

  • Better pay and retirement security for teachers and school staff.
  • A strong, modern curriculum that gives teachers more autonomy and prepares students for lifelong success.
  • Pre-K for All, so kids start strong from day one.

JUSTICE FOR THE PEOPLE

Fairness shouldn’t depend on your bank account.

Access to Justice

I will fight to:

  • Fully fund public defense so the Department of Public Advocacy can recruit and retain skilled attorneys.
  • Expand loan repayment and tuition assistance to keep public defenders in Kentucky and build a more equitable justice system.

Reentry & Voting Rights

I will fight to:

  • Strengthen reentry supports so people leave custody with ID, housing connections, job training, and mental health support.
  • Establish automatic restoration of voting rights as soon as eligibility requirements are met.

PUBLIC SAFETY THROUGH CARE

Safety grows from belonging, not punishment.

I will build safety by investing in people, relationships, and prevention.

I will fight to:

  • Create the District 43 Neighborhood Care Network, offering mutual aid, de-escalation, senior check-ins, and community-led violence prevention.
  • Connect seniors and families to reliable in-home support by strengthening Participant-Directed Services (PDS) and building a local pipeline of trained caregivers—treating home care as essential community infrastructure.
  • Launch a Harm Reduction Ready certification for barbershops and salons, including overdose response training and naloxone access.
  • Invest in late-night youth programming at libraries and recreation centers, with paid youth leadership roles and free evening transit.

LOCAL CONTROL & ECONOMIC POWER

Our neighborhoods should belong to the people who live in them.

I will build safety by investing in people, relationships, and prevention.

I will fight to:

  • Pass the Own Where You Live Act to stop corporate landlords from outbidding working families.
  • Establish the District 43 Business Collective to support local entrepreneurs with legal, bookkeeping, and administrative services.
  • Strengthen incentive programs by requiring real commitments to local hiring, fair wages, apprenticeships, and minority-owned businesses — with consequences for failure.

MONEY IN YOUR POCKET

Fair rates. Strong protections. Real cash back.

I will fight to:

  • End discriminatory insurance pricing based on zip code and credit score.
  • Introduce the Drive Right Pay Less tag renewal discount or rebate for Kentuckians who maintain continuous insurance coverage and a clean driving record.
  • Strengthen protections against utility shut-offs, hidden fees, and poverty penalties.
  • Launch Cash Back Kentucky, expanding free tax and benefits assistance so families can claim the refunds and credits they’ve already earned.
  • Reward consistency in child support payments with a capped tax incentive for parents who stay current.
  • Create a verified care credit for non-custodial parents to receive a capped tax credit for documented child expenses above basic support.

FAIR SHARE REVENUE

Those who’ve gained the most should help build the future.

I will fight to:

  • Enact a Fair Share for Families tax on income over $1 million to fund childcare, housing, and healthcare.
  • Legalize and regulate marijuana — reinvesting revenue into education, infrastructure, and treatment.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE & INFRASTRUCTURE

Clean air, safe water, and modern infrastructure are non-negotiable.

I will fight to:

  • Stronger air-quality monitoring, pollution enforcement, and lead-pipe replacement.
  • Climate-resilient, people-centered infrastructure.
  • Universal digital access.
  • Blocking harmful data centers that drain water, strain power grids, and damage communities.

FOOD & TRANSIT ACCESS

Everybody eats. Everybody moves.

I will fight to:

  • Create an Urban Agriculture Land Bank to turn vacant land into community-owned food production.
  • Support youth-led growing programs and neighborhood gardens.
  • Advance the Freedom to Move Transit Plan, expanding TARC routes to jobs, grocery stores, and appointments.

CHILDCARE

Childcare is essential infrastructure.

I will fight to:

  • Create a Pre-K Partner Site certification that lets licensed child care centers deliver state-funded preschool classrooms
  • Stabilize funding for childcare providers.
  • Fair wages for workers.
  • Expand infant care, after-school programs, and non-traditional hours that families need.
